An English Silver-Hilted Small-Sword
Circa 1750

With shortened tapering blade of hollow triangular section (polished off, areas of pitting), hilt finely cast and chased in relief with rocailles and foliage inhabited by animal and grotesque masks against finely stippled grounds, comprising double shell-guard, arms, rear quillon and globular pommel with button (knuckle-guard missing), and original wooden grip bound with silver ribbon and twisted silver wire, in later scabbard covered in black leather with silver-plated locket and chape
