The first with tapering blade of hollow triangular section retaining traces of etched decoration on each side of the forte, characteristic steel hilt chiselled in relief overall with rococo ornament and foliage framing pairs of birds in landscapes, all against gilt stippled grounds, and original grip bound with silver-gilt ribbon and twisted wire (worn overall); the second with sharply tapering blade of hollow triangular section, characteristic steel hilt with chiselled central mouldings on each side of the shell-guard and on the knuckle-guard, large arms, chiselled rear quillon and globular pommel, and later turned boxwood grip (split, pitted overall) (2)
