The first with tapering blade of hollow triangular section retaining traces of etched decoration on each side of the forte, hilt comprising oval shell-guard unusually pierced and chiselled with looped flowerheads and foliage, comma-shaped rear quillon, faceted knuckle-guard and ovoidal pommel, the latter with prominent button, and original wooden grip bound with twisted silver wire; the second with tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section etched with foliated strapwork framing a profile bust on each side of the forte, blackened hilt comprising oval shell-guard, quillon-block set with a roundel of faceted steel studs, quillons and knuckle-guard set with a faceted steel stud on each side (two missing), faceted ovoidal pommel, and original wooden grip bound with twisted copper wire (some wear overall) (2)
