A Continental Brass-Hilted Small-Sword
Mid-18th Century, Probably Dutch

With tapering blade (some pitting overall) of slightly hollow diamond section, forte of flattened diamond section inlaid with a design in serrated brass within line fullers on each side, hilt cast and chased throughout with rocailles against a finely stippled ground and comprising double shell-guard, rear quillon (one arm repaired), knuckle-guard, globular pommel with button finial, and swelling grip
