The first with tapering blade double-edged towards the point and with slipped piercings within the three fullers on each side of the forte, cast and chased brass hilt comprising downbent shell-guard with a boar hunting scene in a landscape, rear quillon with hound's head terminal, quillon-block with a fox on one side and a hare on the other, knuckle-guard interrupted by a demi-figure, eagle-head pommel, and swelling grip with a Classical warrior on one side and the figure of Vanity on the other, each within rococo ornament and foliage (some wear overall); the second with tapering blade (lightly pitted) of flattened hexagonal section, the forte etched with a panel of foliated strapwork on each side and signed 'Gerrit Burghorst Mr. Zwaardveger In De Kalverstraat A Amsterdam', silver hilt (shell-guard missing) cast and chased with rococo ornament and foliage including a tulip on each side of the knuckle-guard, and original polished mother-of-pearl grip (chipped) with silver collar punched with foliage, indistinct silver marks (2)
