An 1834 Pattern Royal Horse Guards Officer's Sword
By Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, Mid-19th Century

With very slightly curved fullered blade (worn and lightly pitted overall) double-edged at the point and retaining faint traces of etched decoration on each side, the forte etched with maker's details on one side and with circular gilt-lined maker's proof mark on the other, regulation brass hilt cast with scrollwork and comprising wrist-guard with a crown on each side, three scrolled bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, pommel-cap with a rose between scrolls, and spirally-grooved fishskin (incomplete) covered grip (wire binding missing)
