A late 18th century Longcase Clock by T Taylor, Sunderland c.1798

the hood with pierced swan neck pediment over freestanding reeded Corinthian columns, long trunk door with full arch on a plain base. The 13 inch(33cm) arched painted dial depicting the explosion of the French Flagship at the Battle of the Nile 1798, over Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials (lettering re-touched). The movement with four knapped pillars and anchor escapement striking on a bell. 89in(226cm)high.
