Footnotes
Nelson flew his flag from the 32-gun frigate Amphion, Captain Samuel Sutton, between May and July 1803. Captain Barlow, the recipient, had distinguished himself as an enterprising frigate captain who, in the 44-gun Phoebe, had captured the Néréide, 36 guns, and the Africaine, 44 guns.
