Burma
Peridot is a gem material with a long and venerable history. Known from ancient times throughout the Middle East, it has been found in many archeological digs. Crusaders brought it to Europe, hence the name “Crusaders Emerald.” From an old southern California collection comes this wonderful peridot which displays an unusual (for the species) rectangular step-cut faceting. Exhibiting all of the qualities of classic, old mine material, probably sourced in the early part of the last century, it is characterized by a deep green hue unmodified by yellow. Weighing 110.62 carats and measuring 29.5 x 23.5 x 15.0mm.
