By Andrew Gulij, winner of 2004 AGTA “Cutting Edge” Award
Lapidary artist Andrew Gulij, has copyrighted a technique called “ gem intrusions” which consists of precisely inserting colorful rods of gemstones into faceted and carved transparent gems. The result is a play of colors and reflections never seen previously in natural gemstones—a virtual kaleidoscope within the gem. This elongated octagonal-cut aquamarine possesses excellent clarity and is further enhanced with inset rods of red coral, turquoise and lapis. Weighing approximately 7.92 carats and measuring 17.1 x 11.7 x 8.7mm.
