Brazil
Sodalite is a scarce mineral. It is thusly named due to its sodium content. It is typically used in carving and occasionally in jewelry and the color ranges from light to dark pure blue color, the darker the better. Sphere making is an art form which has been mastered by very few lapidary artists. These spheres of deep blue color with calcite veining would have been a particularly difficult project due to their large size. It is rare to find a pair of such well matched material, perfectly matched for size and color. Each measuring approximately 12 inches in diameter.
