Making imaginative use of a single piece of this colorful mineral from Tanzania, the leaping toad, covered in warts, is carved of raspberry colored ruby. The leaf beneath him, with its engraved texturing, is carved from the green zoisite matrix. The eyes are set with blue sapphire cabochon eyes. The carving of this toad was stated to have been commenced by Gerd Dreher but was completed by Georg Brandt while working in Dreher’s atelier. Length 5in.
