Cruzeiro Mine
Near Governador Valadares – Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The Cruzeiro mine has been known for its consistency of quality, since the early days of its accidental discovery by Brazilian and American prospectors during the 1940s who were searching for high quality mica to aid WWII efforts. It is from this premier mine that this highly desirable specimen originates. Consisting of a double-terminated, twinned crystal with classic form—its pyramidal top and typical striated surfaces are hallmarks of specimens from this region. Notable for its superb rich blue color, one can see that there is facetable quality material to the interior. A small cluster of pink tourmaline crystals grows near its base. Weighing 174.1 grams and measuring 4 3/8 x 1 3/8 x 1 ¼ in.
