Minas Gerais, Brazil
A highly aesthetic specimen which is also mineralogically interesting in that it shows more than one generation of quartz growth. The basis is a tall, coffee-colored smoky quartz crystal of hexagonal form on which appears a plethora of smaller, colorless and smoky hexagonal crystals (some of which appear flattened) overgrown both vertically and perpendicular to the main axis. The luster is vitreous and the specimen appears to glow internally. Scepters—oriented overgrowths whereby one quartz crystal caps another formed earlier—are rare, but a highly complex one such as this is sure to form the centerpiece of any quartz collection. Offered on a custom-fitted acrylic base. Measuring 16 x 5 x 5in.
