Rare Black Gold-in-Quartz Specimen and a Matching Gold-in-Quartz Cabochon

Red Lake Mine, Ontario, Canada
From a recently discovered locality in Canada which has been producing richly gold-infused quartz, such as the present example. Like a free-standing sculpture, its face polished smooth to reveal the complex interior of the stone, this rare specimen scintillates with heavy gold veining throughout the milky, which graduates from grey-black to deep black quartz at the edges. Natural boulder faces are apparent on all the remaining sides. Accompanied by a 5.7 carats oval cabochon stone, cut from the same material.(2) Cabochon measuring 15.5 x 12.0 x 2.0mm. Rough specimen meausuring 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 2 3/4in.
