This specimen, large for its type, has a distinctive deep red skeleton made of calcium carbonate consisting of a series of parallel tubes connected by horizontal sheets. The skeleton retains this deep red coloration permanently. Technically a “soft coral”, the polyps of organ-pipe coral have eight feathery tentacles, and are a green-brown to grey color. Organ-pipe coral is not considered a globally endangered species. Measuring 9 x 7 ½ x 4 ½ in.
