Dominican Amber Spider Collection

Oligocene
Dominican Republic

This collection of 30 million year old spiders is contained in three outstanding amber nuggets; two fine 1 inch well-polished pieces with large, well placed spiders flanking a sensational rarity—a spider menagerie. This large nugget, measuring 1 ½ x 1 ¼ x 1/2in., contains three different species of spider as well as a cricket, cockroach, molt, large wasps, many fine flies, seeds, etc. A whole diverse prehistoric rain forest 'death trap' dominated by spiders. The collection is displayed in a Riker mount. (3)
