An unusual Staffordshire pearlware model of a dog

early 19th century
modelled standing on an irregular rocky base mottled in green and brown, its head held down as if to catch a scent, its body 'combed' in manganese to simulate fur, with white eyes and a red line around the mouth, 18.8cm wide (tail lacking, shallow chip to underside of base)
