A rare English Majolica eggstand

circa 1870
oval, moulded with cavities for six eggs, the handle modelled as a small bird perched on a twig, some nest-building material in its beak, the stand in turquoise and deep blue with an ochre rope edge to the rim, 25cm wide (bird's tail broken and re-stuck)
