Footnotes
A very similar vase from the Minton Museum collection was sold in these rooms on 5 October 2004, lot 60. This was signed 'C Toft'. Others are illustrated by Bernard Bumpus, Pâte-sur-Pâte, pl 70 and Joan Jones, Minton, p 211. Charles Toft Senior is best known at Minton for his 'Henri Deux' ware, but pieces such as this lot show his great accomplishment in the Pâte-sur-Pâte technique
