A fine Minton pâte-sur-pâte vase and cover

dated 1884
of slender classical form, the shoulder applied with gilded wreath handles tied with well modelled ribbons picked out in gold, decorated in pâte-sur-pâte with a rectangular panel of Venus in her chariot attended by five cupids, the reverse with three cupids and a bird's nest in a branch, smaller panels of classical ornament beneath the handles, reserved on a bright turquoise ground within tooled and raised gold borders, 39.5cm, impressed and printed marks in gold, indistinct monogram to Venus panel (fine crazing to turquoise on the foot only, knop broken off and restored) (2)
