A very rich Coalport dessert service

circa 1820-25
with gadroon moulded rims, the borders painted with colourful garden flowers on a solid gold ground edged with flamboyant gold rococo scrolls, the centres painted with further colourful flower sprays, comprising: a pair of tureens, covers and stands, a footed centrepiece, ten various shaped dishes and twenty-four plates, Society of Arts printed mark and impressed numeral 2 on some pieces (fine cracks around finials of tureen-lids, one plate with a restored chip, another plate with a small rim chip, two shell-shaped dishes with very fine cracks, a few dishes with minute chips to gardooning) (41)
