A pair of Worcester plates painted in the Giles workshop

painted in neoclassical style with pale yellow vases shaded in grey and festooned with colourful flowers, within 'wet' blue borders gilded with bands of anthemions and a fruiting vine, 21.2cm, crescent and square marks (one with some wear) (2)

The 1774 auction of Giles's stock included a dessert service 'elegantly painted with different vases and an ultramarine blue border enriched with chased and burnished gold'
