A very rare Worcester sauceboat

circa 1754-55
of spreading shape with an angular handle with a pronounced thumbrest, thinly moulded and with elaborate rococo scrollwork framing panels painted in blue with the 'Boatman' pattern (I.B.22B), the water surrounding an island represented by careful shading, flowering peonies inside and diaper and scrolls on the lip, 15cm long, workman's mark (restored rim chips)
