The design, with its curious symmetry, originated at Limehouse and Lund's Bristol. This steatitic example was probably made at Worcester during the earliest phase of production. A related pickle shell was in the Billie Pain collection, sold in these rooms 26 November 2003, lot 101. Another was in the Watney collection, pt. 3, lot 919
