A rare Bow shell dish

circa 1755-58
moulded as a large shell raised on an arcaded rocky base encrusted with shells and seaweed picked out in shades of pink, the dish painted in kakiemon style with gilt highlights in 'The Two Quail' pattern, comprising a pair of quail by a flowering prunus tree, the rims with a border of leaves and flowers in iron red and gold, 20cm width of dish (chip to rim and typical chips to shells)
