circa 1755
oval, moulded with rings around the base and foliate lug handles imitating a wooden butter churn, the flat cover with a foliate scroll handle, finely painted in kakiemon style with scrolling peony and chrysanthemum flowers by 'banded hedges', a Japanese boy on one side of the base, a dragon on the cover, the rim with a Chinese export style spearhead design in red and gold, 12.6cm wide (minute chip to rim) (2)
