A Brass-Hilted Hanger
Late 18th Century

With slightly curved single-edged blade (some pitting overall) with slender fuller along the back-edge for most of its length on each side, regulation slotted hilt pierced with a fouled anchor on the knuckle-guard, globular pommel decorated with vertical flutes and with prominent button, and wooden grip bound with brass wire, in original brown leather scabbard with brass locket and chape, the former with iron frog hook
