An 1804 Pattern Naval Cutlass
Early 19th Century

With broad tapering blade incised 'GR' (rubbed) above '8' crowned on one side of the forte, and with maker's name 'J.H. Beddell & Co.' along the back, blackened iron hilt with figure of eight guard stamped with a broad arrow mark, and blackened ribbed iron grip, in its brown leather scabbard with brass chape and frog-hook
