watercolour, framed, sold with this portrait are a number of press cuttings dating from 1911 until 1939, and a note initialed C of K dated May 1917, 20 by 15cm (8 by 6in)

The hand written note indicates that this portrait of Napoleon at St Helena with Longwood in the background, was painted by Captain Basil Jackson who was in St Helena from April 1816 until July 1819. He was employed in building or repairing Longwood house.
Captain Humphrey Senhouse was flag captain to Rear Admiral Sir Henry Hotham, Commanding the British Fleet of France in 1815,
