A George II Silver Mug,

by Richard Gurney & Co, London 1746,
engraved with a monogram within shield and an allegorical figure of a freed slave within a garter and titled "Algiers" 13cm high, 14.6oz.

Footnotes

The engraved badge is for Admiral the Hon Sir Fleetwood Broughton Reynolds Pellew, KCH, CD (1789-1816). He was the 2nd son of the illustrious Admiral Viscount Sir Edward Pellew who bombarded Algiers in 1816 on the refusal of the Dey to abolish Christian slavery, a feat for which Admiral Pellew was created Viscount Exmouth, received a further augmentation to his coat of arms and honoured throughout Europe.
