With slender tapering blade (some pitting and loss of finish) of flattened hexagonal section etched and gilt with martial trophies, 'GR' crowned and foliage against the remains of a blued ground over each side of the forte, regulation gilt-copper stirrup hilt engraved with a fouled anchor on each langet, cast and chased lion-mask pommel, its mane extending back to form the back-piece, and swelling ivory grip (some chips) bound with twisted copper wire, in original black leather scabbard with gilt-copper locket, chape and suspension mount each engraved with foliage and strapwork involving foliated crescents, the former signed in full on one side, and with two rings for suspension
