Early 19th Century

With curved blade double-edged towards the point, the forte etched and gilt against a blued ground with a crowned fouled anchor, a martial trophy, a seashell and foliage along the other, hilt comprising quillons with scrolled foliate terminals (knuckle-chain missing), pommel cast and chased as a lion-mask, its mane extending down the back-piece, and partly fluted and incised rounded ivory grip, in original gilt-brass scabbard engraved with a fouled anchor and foliage along one side, and with two rings for suspension
