A Naval Officer's Dirk
Early 19th Century

With curved sharply pointed blade double-edged towards the point and etched and gilt with foliage, crowned 'GR' cypher, royal arms and a martial trophy against a blued ground over most of its length on each side, hilt comprising slightly curved quillons with rounded terminals, spirally fluted flattened ivory grip with gilt-metal collar embossed with foliage, and rounded pommel with later brass mount with applied fouled anchor, in original gilt-brass scabbard engraved along one side with a martial trophy and foliage against a stippled ground, and with two suspension rings (some wear overall)
