A Naval Officer's Dirk
Early 19th Century

With curved double-edged blade (some rust patination), hilt comprising foliate engraved recurved quillons (knuckle-chain missing) and rounded langets, pommel cast and chased as a lion-mask and also forming the back-strap, and partly chequered rounded ivory grip (some splits), in its tooled leather scabbard (leather renewed) with pierced border engraved brass locket and chape, and with two rings for suspension (some wear overall)
