White when serving as a midshipman on board HMS Victory at Portsmouth, 1867-68, and subsequently on: HMS Formidable at Sheerness; HMS Bristol at Sheerness, Funchal, Lisbon and Gibraltar, 1868; HMS Warrior at Belfast, Plymouth, Lisbon, 1868-69; HMS Endymion at Portsmouth, Funchal, Madeira, Bahia, Rio, Monte Video, Simon's Bay, the Cape, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart Town, Lyttelton, Wellington, Aukland, Yokohama, Vancouver, Honolulu, Valparaiso, Bahia, Plymouth, 1869-70; HMS Royal Adelaide at Hamoaze, 1870-71; HMS Tamar at Plymouth, Portsmouth, St Vincent, St Helena, the Cape, Simon's Bay, Natal, Mauritius, Singapore, Hong Kong, Yokohama, 1871; HMS Juno at Yokohama; HMS Adventure at Yokohama, Kobe, Nagasaki, Amoy, Hong Kong; HMS Ocean at Nagasaki, Amoy, Hong Kong; and HMS Juno moored at Shanghai from late 1871 until returning home in 1873, the logbooks illustrated throughout with carefully-executed charts and some ship details, c.800 pages in four volumes, original sail-canvas covered boards, minor wear and browning, folio, 1867-1873
