Document signed ("Horatio Nelson"), with his right hand, being orders to James Beale of HMS Boreas to take command of the schooner prize Brilliant ("...should their be the least appearance of a Gale of Wind or Hurricane whilst you are in the said Schooner, You are for the preservation of yourself & people to quit her leaving her as secure as her Anchor and Cables will admit of, and by no means to risk the lives of yourself and Men under your care..."), one page, folio, name from address leaf pasted on, laid down, some wear and dust-staining but overall in sound and attractive condition, "Given under my hand on Board His Majesty's Ship Boreas in Nevis Road 25 July 1786"
