"May God Almighty Bless & protect You for Your Most Faithful Nelson & Bronte"
Horatio Nelson

Autograph letter signed twice ("Nelson & Bronte"), to Lady Hamilton ("My Dearest Emma"), asking her to order a new coat ("...Will You have the goodness to order Wright the Taylor to make me a Uniform Coat...") as well as clothes for his cabin boy ("...a suit of Livery and undress for William he must recollect that he is grown taller and not to have them too tight over the Breast which the last were..."), which Alexander Davison will send out to him ("...I have sent to Davison to beg him to order me some things from Burgess, and some Brown Stout..."), subscribing himself "for ever I am My Dear Emma Most faithfully Yours & only Your Nelson & Bronte..."); followed by a postscript discussing the promotion of "young Faddy" [the eighteen-year-old son of the Captain of Marines killed at the Nile] ("...let him be told to pass his Examination in England - or he may not get confirmed..."), two pages, 4to, integral blank, traces of mounting and slight dust-staining but overall in fine condition, [Victory, off Toulon], 23 October 1803

Footnotes

Nelson tells Emma that he can hardly bear to leave her, even in a letter, ending with the avowal: "closing my letter to You is like taking a long farewell but the Ship is on the Wing & this is the last moment to say May God Almighty Bless & protect You for Your Most Faithful Nelson & Bronte".
