"presenting You & My Godson to Sir William & Lady Hamilton"
Horatio Nelson

Autograph letter signed ("Nelson & Bronte"), to George Galway Mills, inviting him to Merton ("...in case You should come when I am from home I will say Friday, and if you will do me the additional favor of dining with us I shall be very glad, and of the opportunity of presenting You & My Godson to Sir William & Lady Hamilton..."), one page, 4to, integral autograph address leaf, recipient's docket, minor tears, dust-staining and traces of mounting, Merton, 5 October 1802

Footnotes

George Galway Mills owned the 286 acre Belmont plantation in St Kitts and was MP for Wallingford and Winchelsea: he and his son, Nelson's godson, no doubt knew Nelson through Fanny's Nevis connection. This letter is not printed by Nicolas, Dispatches and Letters or White, New Letters; although Nicolas prints another letter to Mills of 6 April 1803.
