Footnotes

Provevance

This button having been in the Hood family for approximately 100 years was given in 1911 by Sir Nelson Hood, Duke of Bronte (great Grandson of the Admiral's brother, the 1st Earl) to Captain Sir Bryan Godfrey-Faussett RN (Naval Equerry to King George V) and hence by family decent.

The design of this button is the pattern for an Admiral 1787-1812 and is identical to the ones seen on the undress uniform worn by Nelson at Trafalgar.
