Footnotes

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1927. The gun was purchased by Col. Claude Beddington for his daughter, Sheila, later Viscountess Powerscourt, who, it was once stated by Lord Home of the Hirschel, was the leading lady shot of her day. In the 1930s, she, with her father and three guests achieved a record bag in excess of 600 brace of grouse on their moor, Glendai in Perthshire. The gun has since been given as a present to the current vendor
