A RARE EARLY SCHLUND PATENT FIRST MODEL .476 'HAMMERLESS' REVOLVER, NO. 18

The revolver incorporating H.A. Schlund's 1885 patent, with First Model external lower trigger, six shot double-action, topstrap-opening action with knurled catch, with some original deep blued finish, Webley-type cartridge ejector, the butt with chequered walnut grip and lanyard-ring
6in. barrel, Black Powder proof

Footnotes

The design of this very unusual revolver was patented in 1885 by Henry Schlund, the Works Manager of the Kynoch Gun Factory. A later patent, No. 11,900 of 1886, incorporated certain improvements and, as Boothroyd says, actual production appears to have been based on this. The present example, with the exception of the number 18, is unmarked and could well be an early prototype
