probably Anatolia or Persia, 15th Century

Arabic manuscript on paper, 26 leaves, 9 lines to the page, first, fifth and ninth lines on each page written in bold muhaqqaq and thuluth in black ink, remaining text written in smaller naskhi script, diacritics and vowel points in black, gold rosettes decorated with blue dots between verses, interlinear and intercolumnar rules in gold throughout, the word ushr written in gold in wide margins, section heading in large thuluth in gold, badly dampstained throughout, some crude repairs mostly restricted to outer margins, one line of text smudged, contemporary brown morocco with blind-tooled central medallions filled with geometric designs and florets, with flap, worn, crudely repaired, rebacked
