The author of this work, al-Nawawi, was a mufti of as-Sham (Syria)
Ownership inscriptions on folio1a gives the name of Ahmad bin Sadaqah al-Homsi as-Shafi’i, and Shihab-ad-din known as Ibn Badr as-Sifat ad-Dallal (middleman) bi souk……. A third inscription gives the name of Muhammad Sadr-ad-din (?) bin al-Haj Ahmad …. in Aleppo.
