A Qur’an section, juz 6 from a Qur’an in fifteen parts with marginal commentaries, copied by Rashid ibn Muhammad ibn Salim, Egypt or Arabia, 14th/15th Century

Arabic manuscript on paper, 51 leaves, 8 lines of text to the page, copied in bold Arabian style script in black, full vowels and diacritical marks in coloured ink, verse endings marked by florets of coloured dots, red ruled borders, the Qur’anic text is surrounded on three sides by marginal commentaries in smaller script in black and red ink, an illuminated title-page panel indicating that this is part six from a Qur’an in fifteen parts,
a waqfiyyah, on first folio, states that this Qur’an was endowed to the Mosque of Imam Salah al-Din, discoloration, corner rather thumbled, a full colophon statement at the end, with original cover, modern brown leather binding
255 x 190 mm.
