Footnotes

Provenance:
Robert Strauss Collection.

This bowl is a superb example of the type of lustre that was produced in Persia following the Mongol invasion of the 1220's. Its shape and style of decoration are characteristic of the period (Oliver Watson, Persian Lustre Ware, London, 1985, pp.110-116).
