Footnotes
Towards the end of the 15th Century there was a revival of interest in the early calligraphers who contributed to the perfection of the six scripts. The most celebrated of those scribes was Yaqut al-Musta’simi (died c.1298 A.D) and his pupils.
Numerous Qur’ans, prayer books and album pages were copied in Persia, Turkey, Egypt and Syria from original manuscripts, and embellished with the names of the calligraphers and their dates.
