Waqfiyyah scroll, a large and detailed legal document, giving details of property transactions in several famous landmarks in Damascus including Bab Tuma, al-Salihiyyah, al-Jisr al-Abyad and Suk Sarujah, including the sale and endowments of lands and buildings as specified, with full details of their proceeds and beneficiaries, prepared and supervised by Qadi al-Qudat, the Chief Judge of Damascus, duly attested and dated at several points from AH 995/ AD 1586 through to AH 1069/AD 1658, then through to the last dated waqf notation in 1930, giving details, on the reverse of the document, of the endowment by the Vazir Berwaiz Pasha of his lands and properties for the benefit of the Holy Places in Mecca and Medina Damascus, Syria, dated at several locations, the earliest noted is AH 995/ AD 1586
