A late 18th century gold watch with early duplex escapement

James McCabe, London, No 3574
gilt full plate movement with pierced and engraved cock centred by a large diamond endstone over circular turned pillars, the chain fusee movement with polished steel maintaining power, under a gilt dustcap stamped 3574 to the inside and with the initials I.M.C, white enamel arabic dial and polished cases, again numbered, and hallmarked for London 1796, casemakers mark SC for Srah Carpenter 56mm. diameter

Paul Hackamack wrote in the AHS journal, Volume X, page 308,that this is the earliest known standard size duplex watch in original gold pair cases by McCabe known to him.
