gilt full plate movement signed Tho Cummins. Invt et Fecit London 98-24 with plain gilt cock with shaped terminal supporting a large diamond endstone in a double screwed blued steel chaton, to a blued steel hairspring with six turns supporting a cut and compensated bimetallic balance utilising three different types of timing screws, jewelled throughout with double screwed chatons, the movement with circular turned pillars, chain fusee and maintaining power to a Massey type of lever escapement, the large table with a central ridge set with a very large impulse jewel acting on the gold lever to a pair of jewelled pallets, the banking effected by a pair of screws mounted onto a separate block at the opposite end, the enamel dial with outer minute track enclosing subsidiaries for Roman hours and arabic seconds, sold together with a custom made turned brass display plinth the backplate 48mm. diameter.

Watches by Thomas Cummins are extremely rare and can represent the very best of early lever production; the gold lever, the shaping of the roller, the size of the jewel and the overall level of finish are of the highest quality in the current example.
